PRESTON -- The funeral for Loren A. Woellert will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Rev. James Rushton officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, Preston.

Mr. Woellert, 76, a longtime Preston area resident, died Wednesday (June 27, 2007) at his residence.

Born June 29, 1930, in the Willow Creek area of rural Preston, he was a 1949 graduate of Preston High School. He married Phyllis Mulhern on July 29, 1950, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Preston. The couple farmed in the Preston area before moving to town in 1957. He worked for Bud Olson's Feed and Grain in Preston and later for Preston Farm Service. He and his wife also owned and operated the Rebound Inn in Preston for a number of years. Mr. Woellert also worked at Dahl's IGA and the Fillmore County Highway Department. Following his retirement in 1993, he worked part-time at Gehling's Auction in Preston. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a 21-year member of the Preston Fire Department. He enjoyed auctions, fishing, family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Janet) and Michael (Malissa), both of Preston; a daughter, Sharon Woellert of Preston; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Loyal (Leona) of Preston and Donald (Charlotte) of Albuquerque, N.M. He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 20, 1999.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston, and an hour before the service Sunday at the church.

RACINE -- A memorial service for Doyle R. Wilson, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Racine United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rob Kopp officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Cemetery, rural Racine.

Mr. Wilson, of Racine, died Wednesday (June 27, 2007) of natural causes at Maple Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation in Rochester. He had been a resident at Maple Manor since this past Monday.

He was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Houston, Minn. He moved with his family at an early age to Racine, where he attended school. He married Lucille Shipton on Sept. 11, 1934, at the bride's home in rural Grand Meadow; the couple would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary this year.

In 1943 he worked as a mechanic on the Canol Oil Line near the Arctic Circle. In 1948 he was employed as shop foreman at the former Jahns Implement in Racine. In 1960 he opened a tractor and small engine repair shop in Racine, which he still owned and remained active in until the present.

His wife, a homemaker, survives and resides in Racine. Mr. Wilson was a member of Racine United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting model trains and camping.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Doris (Howard) Glamm of Pine Island, Lorraine (Robert) Kellner of Stewartville and Yuma, Ariz., and Carol Larson of Oronoco and Donna, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth (Wayne) Shipton of Pleasant Prairie, Minn. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law, David Larson.

Friends may call an hour before the service at the church.

AUSTIN -- A memorial service for Arthur H. Johnson will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Lindahl officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, Minn.

Mr. Johnson, 88, of Austin, died Thursday (June 28, 2007) at the Austin Medical Center.

Arthur Harold Johnson was born April 30, 1919, in Buffalo, Minn. He graduated in 1938 from Buffalo High School and the following year attended the Minneapolis School of Business. In 1938 he entered Macalester College in St. Paul and was there until 1941, when he enlisted in the Air Corps. He served as finance officer at Pope Field in North Carolina and was discharged in 1946 as a captain. He returned to Macalester and received his degree in 1946. In 1951 he received an MBA from the University of Denver and later studied economics at the University of Missouri and the University of Minnesota.

Mr. Johnson taught in high schools in LeSueur, Minn., and Oxnard, Calif., before moving to Austin in 1950. From 1950 to 1965 he taught in the business education department at Austin High School, and taught economics at Austin Community College from 1965 to 1980. In 1962 he married Abigail Moore at Moorland Farm in Jackson, Minn.; his wife taught English at Austin High School. He was both an elder and a deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a nephew and a niece. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin. There will be no reviewal.

Memorials are suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church.

ORONOCO -- The funeral for Myra M. Markham will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco, with the Rev. Paul Baldauf officiating. Interment will be in Oronoco Cemetery.

Mrs. Markham, 85, of Pine Island, formerly of Oronoco, died Wednesday (June 27, 2007) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, of complications from diabetes and heart disease.

Myra Marie Mohlke was born April 22, 1922, in Oronoco Township, Olmsted County. She attended Coon Grove School and grew up in Oronoco. On Nov. 21, 1946, she married Leonard 'Peck' Markham at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco. The couple made their home in Oronoco and owned and operated L.C. Markham Trucking for 30 years. She was a homemaker, reared two children and also worked at the Pine Island public schools library and the Oronoco Community Center. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in its Ladies Aid for many years. She also enjoyed the Oronoco Senior Citizens Group and loved dancing, listening to hymns, laughter and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Dick) Walker of Oronoco; a son, Ron (Joanne) of Rochester; and a brother, Harold (Joanne) Mohlke of Oronoco. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Dan (Darcie) Walker of Oak Creek, Wis., Joleen (Justin) Predmore of Pine Island, Nikki Markham of Roseville, Minn., and Stacy Markham of Rochester; and three great-grandchildren, Cade and Shaelyn Predmore of Pine Island and MacKenzie Walker of Oak Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 5, 2007; a grandson, David Markham; four brothers, George, Martin, Harvey and Ervin Mohlke; and an infant sister, Lois Mohlke.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island, and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
